Tahquamenon Falls

If you're lucky enough to be able to get up to Michigan's Upper Peninsula this summer, please stop  to enjoy an unforgettable visit to see the Tahquamenon Falls located at the Tahquamenon Falls State Park in northern Luce and Chippewa counties. It's a trip that you and your family will remember for a lifetime. Here are some pictures of one of our recent visits. The moose head in one of the pictures is stuffed, but seemed like a good gag anyway.

The Upper Tahquamenon Falls is Located in northern Luce County, Michigan, and the Lower Falls is located just 5 miles downstream in Chippewa County. Known as one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River, the Upper Tahquamenon spills approximately 3 million gallons of water per minute during peak flow times, and measures 50' high and 200' wide. But you don't need to know all of that to enjoy it's magnificent beauty. As any  outdoors person knows, a mere picture can't compare to actually being there, but see the short video at left on YouTube to get a glimpse of the Upper Tahquamenon  in action.

The Lower Falls while not as majestic as the Upper, is very tranquil and picturesque. A modern campground is also located at the Lower Falls.

Spend a day or longer, and enjoy peace in a natural setting. You can experience camping, hiking,  canoeing and kayaking, fishing, wildlife viewing, photography, and more when you visit the Tahquamenon Falls area.
