Muskallonge Lake State Park

Muskallonge Lake, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Canoe & Kayak

Here are a few pictures taken at Muskallonge Lake State Park, including some from last year's “Rec 101”:

Doreen and I often go to Muskallonge Lake just to relax for a while in the evening after picking up boats. Muskallonge Lake State Park provides plenty of room to breath and just enjoy the outdoors. They have 159 campsites with modern facilities – it is also located right across from Lake Superior for some great rock-hounding opportunities.

Muskallonge Lake State Park is open between mid-April and November 1st and is located on the sparkling clear 786 acre Muskallonge Lake – home to a variety of fish species such as walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, panfish, among others. The park offers the convenience of 159 campsites, modern restrooms and showers, a boat launch, playground, a swimming beach, and a picnic area. Some of the activities that you can enjoy while camping at Muskallonge Lake are hiking, canoeing and kayaking – on Muskallonge Lake and Lake Superior(calm days only), fishing, wildlife viewing, photography, and rock collecting on Lake Superior. Dogs are permitted if they are on a leash, but you might want to inquire if you plan on bringing your goat or pig, etc.

In 2011 we began taking part in the parks new program, “Paddling Rec 101”. This program offers first time and novice paddlers a chance to learn some basic paddling and safety techniques taught by a skilled teacher. There's no need to bring your own canoe or kayak – everything is provided for you.

We are currently closed until June of 2024.
